What You'll Build

A live affiliate review blog with SEO-optimized content, email capture, and tracked affiliate links generating passive income.

Prerequisites

Architecture

Webflow hosts your review blog with its built-in CMS. Ahrefs drives your keyword and competitor research so you write content people actually search for. ConvertKit captures emails and nurtures readers into buyers. Canva creates comparison graphics and featured images. Notion tracks all your affiliate links, commissions, and content calendar.

Ahrefs (research) → Webflow (publish) → ConvertKit (capture) → Notion (track commissions)

5 Steps

1
Webflow

Choose your niche and set up Webflow blog

~20 min

Pick a profitable affiliate niche and scaffold your Webflow site with a blog CMS collection.

  1. Pick a niche where products cost $50+ and have recurring commissions (SaaS tools, online courses, equipment)
  2. Sign up at webflow.com and create a new project - choose a blog template or start blank
  3. Set up a CMS collection called "Reviews" with fields: Title, Slug, Body, Rating, Pros, Cons, Affiliate Link, Featured Image
  4. Create your homepage with a hero section explaining what your site reviews and who it helps
  5. Add an About page that builds trust - readers buy from people they trust
💡
Tip: The best affiliate niches have high-ticket items ($100+) with recurring commissions. SaaS tools are ideal because they pay monthly commissions for the lifetime of the customer.
2
Ahrefs

Install Ahrefs and do keyword research

~20 min

Use Ahrefs to find low-competition buyer-intent keywords that will drive organic traffic to your reviews.

  1. Sign up for Ahrefs and go to Keywords Explorer
  2. Search for "[your niche] + best", "[your niche] + review", "[your niche] + vs" - these are buyer-intent keywords
  3. Filter results by KD (Keyword Difficulty) under 30 and search volume above 200
  4. Export your top 10-15 keyword ideas to a spreadsheet or Notion database
  5. Check the top-ranking pages for each keyword - note what they cover and how you can add more value
💡
Tip: Focus on "vs" and "alternative to" keywords first - these have the highest purchase intent. Someone searching "Notion vs ClickUp" is ready to buy.
3
Webflow

Write your first review posts

~30 min

Create SEO-optimized review content that genuinely helps readers make purchase decisions.

  1. Start with 3 cornerstone posts: one "Best X for Y" listicle, one detailed single-product review, and one "X vs Y" comparison
  2. Use a consistent review template: Introduction → Who It's For → Key Features → Pricing → Pros & Cons → Verdict
  3. Add your affiliate links naturally within the content - don't force them, place them where readers are ready to click
  4. Create comparison graphics in Canva showing feature tables, pricing breakdowns, and rating badges
  5. Add an FTC disclosure at the top of every review post ("This post contains affiliate links…")
💡
Tip: Honest reviews convert better than hype. Mention real downsides - it builds trust and makes your recommendations more credible.
⚠️
Warning: Always disclose affiliate relationships. The FTC requires it, and transparency actually increases reader trust and conversions.
4
ConvertKit

Set up ConvertKit email capture

~15 min

Build an email list to nurture readers and drive repeat affiliate revenue.

  1. Sign up at convertkit.com and create a new account for your review site
  2. Create a lead magnet: a free PDF like "Top 10 Tools for [Your Niche]" or a comparison cheatsheet
  3. Build a ConvertKit landing page or inline form for the lead magnet
  4. Embed the signup form on your Webflow blog - add it in the sidebar, after posts, and as a pop-up
  5. Set up a 5-email welcome sequence that delivers the lead magnet, shares your best reviews, and recommends top picks
💡
Tip: Your email list is your most valuable asset. One email blast to a warm list can generate more affiliate revenue than a month of SEO traffic.
