Our evaluation
Google Docs is a strong default for a document whose main difficulty is getting several people to agree on the wording. Comments, editing permissions and recoverable versions keep that discussion beside the text, which is more valuable than adding another writing workspace. I would use one canonical document, name the decision owner and resolve comments before exporting the final copy. Its convenience can become clutter when every project turns into dozens of loosely shared files, so folder ownership and naming still need attention. For a tightly typeset publication or complex imported template, include an export check in the decision. The free account covers ordinary collaboration; buy Workspace for organizational requirements or specific premium features, rather than assuming a paid plan is necessary to write together.
