Tally: validate an unpublished form

What happened

The anonymous editor produced a working four-field preview. Empty required fields and an invalid email were rejected; alphabetic input left the number field empty; choosing Automation deselected Website; a valid synthetic Website response reached the thank-you screen. Pointer actions and screenshot capture timed out in the browser adapter, so keyboard controls were used. The larger planned conditional form was not completed: branch logic, a 1–20 range and a confirmation checkbox were not configured or tested. This result covers the simpler executed fixture only.

Assertions and observed results

• PassedRequired fields

  Expected: Empty required inputs keep the preview on the form and show validation messages.

  Observed: The initial blank preview showed four field errors. A saved repeat with Automation already selected showed required-value errors on Name, Email and Website pages.

• PassedEmail format

  Expected: The value not-an-email must be rejected while other required values are supplied.

  Observed: The preview displayed Please enter a valid email and remained on the form.

• PassedNumeric input filter

  Expected: Typing abc into Website pages must not create a valid numeric answer.

  Observed: After keyboard entry of abc, visible DOM readback showed an empty value for the required number block.

• PassedExclusive choice

  Expected: Selecting Automation after Website leaves only Automation checked.

  Observed: The preview and DOM readback showed Website unchecked and Automation checked.

• PassedValid preview completion

  Expected: Synthetic Tester, tester@example.com, Website and 3 reach the preview thank-you state without bypassing validation.

  Observed: Submit displayed Thanks for completing this form! No Continue anyway control was used.

• Not ExecutedPlanned conditional branches and range

  Expected: A larger fixture would conditionally require Website pages or Automation trigger and enforce pages 1–20.

  Observed: The browser adapter could not perform pointer interactions reliably. These controls were not configured; the executed fixture has four always-required fields and no explicit numeric min/max.

• BlockedImage capture

  Expected: Save a screenshot of the native preview.

  Observed: Browser screenshot transport timed out. Saved visible DOM observations are supplied instead; no reconstructed UI image is presented as a screenshot.

Reproduce the task

1. Open the anonymous Tally create page and enter the synthetic title. Do not create an account or publish.
2. Use slash commands and keyboard selection to add a required short answer, email, multiple choice and number block. Label them as in the executed fixture.
3. Enter Preview and submit blank. Observe required-field errors; leave Continue anyway unused.
4. Supply Synthetic Tester, not-an-email, Website and 3. Submit and observe the email-format error.
5. Replace the email with tester@example.com and submit. Observe the preview thank-you state.
6. Return to the editor and preview again. Type abc into the number input and read back its empty value. Select Website, then Automation; verify only Automation is checked.
7. Save the visible preview observations. Leave the draft unpublished.

The downloads contain synthetic test material. Account identifiers and private project links are excluded. Hashes identify the exact published bytes.

Limits of this result

• This is one anonymous unpublished preview on one date. It does not establish saved response delivery, public-form availability, spam prevention, notifications, integrations, export or long-term reliability.
• A valid preview completion is not a submitted production lead or evidence that an email was delivered. All data is invented and the only email is tester@example.com.
• Conditional logic, an Automation trigger, configured numeric bounds and a confirmation checkbox from the larger planned fixture were not tested. The published fixture accurately reflects the simpler four-field form that ran.
• Pointer and screenshot transport failures belong to this browser adapter session; they are not attributed to Tally product reliability. Keyboard authoring and preview validation still executed.
• The accessible live-status count briefly retained the preceding validation count in immediate snapshots; field-specific messages were used for the email result. No full accessibility audit or timing claim was made.
• No AI generation, payments, paid features, collaboration or peer product was tested. This log supplies no comparative winner or general score.
