Another way to use Copilot in Xcode
GitHub’s 4 November announcement makes Copilot available in Xcode’s built-in coding assistant as a public preview. This route starts with Xcode 27.3 beta on a Mac running macOS Tahoe 26.6 or later. All Copilot plans are supported; that statement does not add an unlimited allowance.
Setup is under Xcode → Settings → Intelligence. The existing GitHub Copilot for Xcode extension remains a separate option. The preview therefore does not require treating the older extension as discontinued.
GitHub’s announcement explains access. Apple’s beta release notes confirm the system requirements.
Check access before connecting project files
Apple’s setup documentation describes choosing agents and tools, reviewing provider terms and privacy, and the information an enabled agent can access. Managed devices can restrict external integrations through device policy.
For a team, record the editor version, operating system, permitted provider and relevant plan before evaluating a task. This separates an integration requirement from a subscription limit. No installation or account connection was performed for this report.
The Copilot profile retains its separately dated prices. The earlier Air billing and usage report covers a different integration. Source receipts record the scope of both checks.
