beehiiv newsletter controls: check settings before send

beehiiv’s October roundup adds editor and sending controls. Check list settings, scoped API keys and conflicting automation eligibility before changing a workflow.

Review scope: Selected official pages read 26 October. Documentation review only; no account, API, import, payment or send tested.

More settings at the point of sending

beehiiv’s 23 October product roundup describes mobile editor improvements, list- and post-level sender name, reply-to, tracking and header settings, a test-send control near scheduling, and a DMARC warning. Reports can compare a custom date range with the previous period of equal length.

The same roundup describes Send API general availability for Pro, publication-scoped API keys for Lite and above, and list import and recipient-preview changes. These are provider announcements; Fewertools has not run a send or imported subscribers for this article.

One eligibility conflict needs checking

The roundup places polls and automations on Pro and Enterprise, while the pricing comparison includes automation wording under Lite. Those pages do not establish an unambiguous entitlement for every automation. Confirm the exact action and account plan with beehiiv before buying for it.

Use a pre-send record

Keep one worksheet for the newsletter you intend to send. Do not use a successful preview as evidence that a real recipient received it.

  1. Audience: record the intended list and whether each included state represents confirmed permission. Review pending and suppressed states separately.
  2. Identity: check the sender name, reply-to address and authenticated domain shown for this post. A list default may differ from a post override.
  3. Tracking: inspect the actual destination and tracking parameters in a test message sent only to an authorized test address.
  4. Permissions: if using an API, select the intended publication and minimum required scope. Do not put an API key in a public example.
  5. Release: review recipients, timing and rollback options before authorizing a send. Save the provider’s delivery result separately from acceptance.

Start with the newsletter CSV import checklist, then use the cost calculator for subscriber and billing scope. This update does not renew historical prices.
