Slack can work well as a shared conversation layer when a team has a clear place for each kind of question and decision. The channels, integrations and huddles become useful when they reduce scattered status messages; they become a distraction when every application posts every event. A channel structure and notification policy are therefore part of the adoption decision. The free history window makes it a poor substitute for a durable decision log, and paying for unlimited history still does not turn chat into a structured project record. Put final decisions where they can be maintained. Pro may be sufficient for group communication, while Business+ should be evaluated against actual identity and AI needs. More messages or automated summaries are not themselves evidence of better coordination.
