n8n becomes more attractive when the workflow needs code or when you are willing to operate its infrastructure. Self-hosting gives you operational choices, not a zero-cost service: somebody must manage updates, backups, credentials and failed executions. On cloud plans, compare workflow execution limits rather than counting individual nodes as if they were another vendor’s tasks. A technical team can gain control by keeping workflow definitions and deployment practices together. A solo non-technical operator should test how they will recover a failed run before choosing it for a critical process.
