Our evaluation
Firebase Authentication is a natural candidate when a mobile or web product already uses Firebase and needs an integrated identity layer. The SDK handles account operations, while the application still owns screen states, provider configuration and authorization to stored data. Avoid treating a successful sign-in as evidence that one user cannot read another user’s records; test the data rules separately. Pricing also needs the exact authentication mode: basic services, Identity Platform MAU tiers, federated enterprise users and SMS are different lines. An early product can start within published allowances, but phone sign-in deserves cost and abuse planning before launch. Evaluate account linking and recovery with the same care as registration, especially when a user changes provider or loses access to an email address.
